About Dave
I Love This Game And I Got Tired of Watching It Frustrate People.
Golf has been the through-line of my life — from junior golf, to competitive play, to coaching. It's not a job. It's the thing I think about when I'm not doing it.
But for years I watched a pattern that didn't sit right: golfers would take lessons, feel great for a round or two, and then it would all fall apart. Back to the same miss. Back to the same frustration. Lesson after lesson, and nothing stuck.
That's not a student problem. That's a teaching problem.
So I went looking for a better way — and I found one.
The Turning Point
Why Your Body Matters More Than Your Backswing
I started where most coaches start — watching video, giving tips, trying to get the club in the right position. It worked in the lesson. On the course? Rarely.
Then I found Kelly Starrett — a physical therapist who changed how I think about the human body. His idea was simple: if you can't organize your body properly, no position will hold under pressure. You need to brace, generate stability, and move from a foundation — not swing from a place of looseness and hope.
I started applying that to golf. Instead of teaching "relaxation" and "smooth tempo," I taught students to grip the ground, brace their body, and rotate against real resistance. The results were immediate. Swings started looking like tour swings — not because we were copying positions, but because their bodies were finally doing what efficient swings require.
This perspective stuck so hard with me that I sought out to prove it.
I invested in Swing Catalyst Dual Motion Force Plates — laboratory grade technology that captures 1,000 readings per second under each foot. For the first time, I could measure what was happening underneath a golfer and connect it directly to what the player feels and where the ball went.
"Trust me" became "see for yourself." That changed everything.
My Philosophy
If Your Basement Moves, Your House Moves
Your feet, your legs, your pressure into the floor — that's the basement. Your core, torso, arms, hands and club — that's the house.
If the basement moves around, you don't really know where the house is at.
That's why I don't start with where the club is. I start with what your feet are doing to the ground. I measure it. Then we build up from there — one layer at a time — until the club stays where it's supposed to be.
Most coaching tries to spot-solve problems. Watch the swing, see something off, hand over a tip. It works for a day. Then it's gone. That's because the tip treated the symptom, not the cause.
When you organize the body properly — legs gripping the ground, core bracing, torso rotating against real resistance — the swing starts to look like the ones you see on TV. Not because you're copying positions, but because your body is doing what efficient swings require.
Feed it quality input, get quality output. That's my model.
What I Bring to Your Session
The Education and Technology Behind Every Lesson
Some coaches have credentials. Some facilities have technology. I'm proud to say I have a lot of both — all integrated into a single process where every piece informs the next.
PGA of Canada — Class 'A' Teaching Professional
The highest designation in Canadian golf. Class 'A' means years of apprenticeship, rigorous playing and teaching evaluations, and ongoing professional standards.
Why it matters to you: You're working with someone vetted by the governing body of golf professionals in Canada. Not a self-taught YouTuber or Pro Shop worker. A certified professional accountable to a national standard.
TPI Level 2 — Golf, Fitness, AND Power
TPI is the world's leading golf body research organization. I'm certified Level 2 in all three disciplines — Golf (how limitations create swing faults), Fitness (mobility, stability, strength), and Power (explosive speed and force production). In Ontario- I am the ONLY coach trained in all 3.
Why it matters to you: When I find a physical limitation in your swing, I don't send you to a separate trainer. I fix it myself, right here, in the gym attached to the studio. The swing work and the body work are one program — not two.
Swing Catalyst Dual Motion Force Plates
1,000 ground force readings per second under each foot — horizontal forces, vertical forces, rotational torque, and a full pressure trace map. Synced in real time with video and TrackMan data. My set up is one of less than 5 dual-plate installations in all of Canada. And you have access to it.
Why it matters to you: Your lower body is the engine of your swing. Every other instructor in the region teaches the lower body by watching video and guessing. I measure it. When I say "your left leg is releasing pressure too early," I'm reading a graph — not interpreting video.
TrackMan 4
The most trusted launch monitor in professional golf. 40+ parameters on every swing — club speed, ball speed, face angle, club path, attack angle, spin loft, and more. Used on every major tour worldwide.
Why it matters to you: I don't use TrackMan the way most coaches do. Most look at ball flight data and work backwards. I look at force plate data first — what your body is doing — then use TrackMan to verify the result. Body → forces → club → ball flight. TrackMan is the end of the chain, not the beginning.
Functional Movement, Mobility & Yoga Background
Kelly Starrett's Becoming a Supple Leopard changed everything for me — it showed me that golfers' swing faults are movement faults. My background includes Ready State certification, yoga teacher training, and corrective exercise design. When we find a tight hip, a restricted shoulder, or a weak core, I build the fix right into your program- connected to a ball flight outcome.
Why it matters to you: The swing fix and the body fix happen together, in real time. I don't tell you to "stretch more" — I give you specific mobilizations and corrective exercises, often right there in the session. That's why the changes stick.
The Gym
This isn't a corner with a foam roller. It's a fully equipped training space — squat rack, cable machines, dumbbells, bands, balance equipment — integrated directly into my coaching studio.
Why it matters to you: Most coaches identify body limitations and say "go see a trainer." The problem? The trainer doesn't understand golf biomechanics. Here, the loop is closed in minutes. Find the limitation → mobilize it → strengthen it → test it on the plates → hit balls. All in one session.
High-Speed Video — Synced with Everything
Multiple camera angles synced with force plate data and TrackMan numbers. When the graph shows your right foot pressure changing direction too early, we freeze the video at that exact frame and see what your body is doing.
Why it matters to you: Video alone is guesswork — you can't see forces on video. But video synced with data becomes a complete picture. It connects the feel to the real.
The Studio
Everything Under One Roof
Force plates on the floor. TrackMan on every shot. High-speed cameras from multiple angles, synced with all the data. A full gym steps away. Every piece of technology talks to every other piece.
When the force plate shows your pressure shifting too early, we freeze the video at that exact frame and see what your body is doing. When the cause is a body limitation, we walk to the gym and address it. Then we come back and test the fix.
Find it. Fix it. Verify it. All in one session, all under one roof.
